Leah moved back to the northern mitten in early 2019 after a twelve year career in various non-profit roles and locations throughout California, from the beaches to the mountains to the redwoods. Before that, she attended Michigan State University where she majored in Parks, Recreation, & Tourism Resources- inspired by her deep love for Camp Daggett throughout her childhood. She has worked for both large and small non-profit and community organizations in California, including the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, local school districts, and multiple nonprofits including the YMCA. She has spent the bulk of her career in outdoor and environmental education programs with the Y, starting with the YMCA of Silicon Valley, then the YMCA of San Francisco, and ultimately the Grand Traverse Bay YMCA here in Michigan. Leah is now working as a child and family advocate at the Women's Resource Center of Northern Michigan, one of our area's most well-established and respected nonprofits. Her strongest expertise lies in nonprofit administration and outdoor/environmental education and she looks forward to connecting with young professionals in the community through Thrive.
